Bengal polls: Tension erupts in Barrackpore as TMC, BJP workers clash during nomination filing
Kolkata/IBNS: A clash reportedly broke out between the activists of Trinamool Congress (TMC) and BJP at Barrackpore in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on Wednesday during the nomination filing of assembly election's candidates.
According to reports, TMC and BJP supporters at a large number gathered outside the SDO office at Barrackpore when their candidates were submitting nominations for the polls.
Workers of the rival parties soon engaged in a clash with each other and had started throwing bricks and vandalizing vehicles.

TMC supporters allegedly threw bricks and stones aiming the car of BJP leader Mukul Roy's son and BJP candidate in Bijapur constituency, Subhranshu Roy.
Local TMC leaders denied their party's involvement in the incident.

Later police restored to lathi-charge to disperse the mob and bring the situation under control.
Sources in the local police claimed that one person had been detained and a firearm was also recovered from the scene.
Locals claimed that a gunshot was fired and a crude bomb was charged during the violence though Barrackpore Police Commissioner Ajay Nanda said that he had no information about any gunshot firing or hurling of crude bombs.
Police have initiated a probe into the incident while the Election Commission of India (ECI) has sought a report on the incident.
