Ayodhya case: Will SC revisit 1994 order holding mosque insignificant in Muslim prayers?
New Delhi, Sept 27 (IBNS): The Supreme Court on Thursday will give verdict whether it will re-visit its 1994 order holding mosques as not essential for Muslims to offer prayers, media reports said.
The verdict will have a significant impact on whether Ram Temple will be built in Ayodhya, where Babri Masjid was present till 1992, a political commitment of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
If the top court decides to re-examine its 1994 order, verdict on whether the temple can be built in Ayodhya is unlikely before 2019 General Elections.
The Ayodhya case is an appeal against the Allahabad High Court's verdict which divided 2.77-acre disputed Ayodhya land among Ram Lalla, Sunni Waqf Board and Nirmohi Akhara.
In 1992, the Babri Masjid was brought down by several right-wing volunteers who believe Lord Ram was born at that land.
