Assembly Polls: Madhya Pradesh counting set for photo finish

| @indiablooms | Dec 11, 2018, at 07:35 pm

Bhopal, Dec 11 (IBNS): The Madhya Pradesh Assembly election is set for a photo finish with the the Congress and BJP going head to head as the counting nears its end.

In the last face of counting, there appeared more than 30 seats where the difference between the two parties was less than 1,000, said reports.

In other states, results are nearly clear with the Congress registering victories in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, removing the BJP from power.

The Congress is currently leading or have won 100 seats in Rajasthan whereas the BJP is ahead in 74.

Mayawati's BSP is ahead in six seats.

Congress is all set to form the next government in Chhattisgarh where the ruling BJP is ahead in just 18 seats in comparison to 65 seats where Rahul Gandhi's party is currently leading.

K Chandrasekhar Rao and his TRS will return to power in Telangana where the party has so far been leading in 87 of the 119-seat Assembly.

In the 40-seat Mizoram Assembly, Mizo National Front is leading in 26, and they are set to form the next government.

The results of the polls in five states are not obviously good news for the ruling BJP in India with the Opposition parties, already holding confabulations to oust the Modi government in the 2019 elections, now emboldened by the defeat of the saffron brigade in this round.
