Assam: Weapons, fake number plates seized from car lifter's residence
Guwahati, Apr 16 (IBNS): Security forces on Wednesday night seized weapons, fake number plates and incriminating documents from the rented house of arrested car lifter Anil Chauhan during search operation at Mirza, outskirts of Guwahati, police said on Thursday.
Guwahati city police commissioner Jyotirmoy Chakraborty said that, security forces on Wednesday night had launched operation at Jamartol area near Mirza and recovered three pistols, a shot gun, 17 rounds live ammunition, 42 numbers fake number plate, a vehicle and some incriminating documents from a house which was used by the arrested kingpin of auto theft gang Anil Chauhan in rent basis.
On other hand, a local court in Guwahati on Thursday sent Rita Chauhan, wife of Anil Chauhan to three days police custody, who surrendered on Wednesday.
Police sought her five days custody but CJM court of Kamrup (Metro) has reduced the time.
Police had arrested another car lifter from Guwahati on Thursday.
The nabbed car lifter was identified as Abhijit Sarma.
