Guwahati, July 25 (IBNS): Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday asked the IT Department to frame a new IT Policy for an increase in e-governance initiatives and use 'IT' as tool to improve lives of the people of Assam.
Chairing a meeting to finalise 100 days programme of the IT Department in the conference room of Assam Secretariat on Monday, Sonowal said that the IT Policy should catapult the government’s initiatives to ensure welfare of all sections of the people of Assam.

“IT penetration in the state to be enhanced to a level where everybody can claim it to his right. The Department should take a pro-active role in formulating an IT policy in sync Prime Minister’s ‘Digital India’ programme,” Sonowal said.

Sonowal also advocated introduction of IT in school curriculum to infuse digital literacy in the State. He also asked the Department to organise “Science Fair” in the State Capital in a bid to help the students to imbibe scientific temperament in them.

The Assam CM also asked the Department to frame the IT policy which will be ‘investment friendly’ and promote ‘single window system’ to facilitate investment and business in the State.
