Assam Rifles nabs hardcore NSCN (K) militant in Nagaland

Guwahati, Dec 16 (IBNS): Security forces apprehended a hardcore militant of banned NSCN (K) in Nagaland’s Mon district on Sunday.

Based on specific input regarding presence of NSCN (K) militant in Santam Ward, Mon Town, Assam Rifles’s Mon battalion launched a search operation in the area and nabbed the militant.

The apprehended militant was identified as 50-year-old Yogpei Konyak.

Security personnel also recovered six donation receipts signed by SS Gen Nyemlang Konyak of NSCN (K), extortion receipts, four diaries with multiple extortion transaction entries, photographs of NSCN (K) cadres,  gold jewellery receipts (Myanmar) of approximately Rs 34,96,249 Burmese Kyat in possession from him.

Later, the apprehendee along with recovered items was handed over to Mon Police Station for further investigation.
