Assam Rifles nab arms smuggler with illegal arms in Nagaland

Guwahati, Oct 29 (IBNS): The troops of Assam Rifles on Monday apprehended an arms smuggler and recovered three pistols in Nagaland’s Tuensang district.

Based on specific information regarding smuggling of illegal arms from Tuensang to Dimapur on NH-202 by Night Super Bus (Blue Hills), bearing registration number NL-03-EB 0719, the Zunheboto battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) established a mobile vehicle check post at Longkhim Town in Tuensang district and apprehended one person with illegal arms.

The apprehended person was identified as Deepak Rai hailing from Assam’s Karbi Anglong district.

Security personnel recovered two 9 mm pistol with magazines (Japan & Russian made) and one point 32 pistol with magazine.

The apprehendee along with recovered items was handed over to Longkhim police station for further investigation.
