Assam Rifles distributes sports equipment in Arunachal Pradesh

Guwahati, Mar 25 (IBNS) : As a valuable contribution towards the development of sports welfare in Miao, Neotan village under Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district and Borduria village under Tirap district, as a part of its Military Civic Action Programme, the Changlang Battalion and the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of DAO division distributed varied sports equipment to the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya Miao, Newman School, Neotan & Secondary School Pokkoam, Borduria Village.

The Battalions handed over sports equipment for Football & Volleyball to the Headmasters of these schools in the presence of the local village headman on Saturday.

“This yeoman service of the Assam Rifles at the grass root level has helped them forge strong bonds with the local population,” Kohima based Defence PRO Colonel Chiranjeet Konwer said.

The Headman on behalf of the villagers extended their heartfelt gratitude to the Assam Rifle battalion for the noble endeavour.

This effort reaches out to the masses and brings the motto “Friends of The North East” to the fore.
