Guwahati, Aug 12 (IBNS) : Assam Rifles troops have busted a temporary camp of NSCN (IM) in Nagaland’s Peren district.

According to the reports, based on specific information regarding presence of armed NSCN (IM) militants in general area New Ngaolong of Peren district,  Jalukie Battalion of Assam Rifles launched a search at the area.

A top official of Assam Rifles said the column during search,  noticed presence of a group of 10-15 NSCN (IM) militants in a temporary camp, which is a noticeable violation of Ceasefire Ground Rules (CFGR).

“The column approached the camp and asked the NSCN (IM) militants to surrender peacefully as per CFGR guidelines. However, the militants responded by bringing down heavy volume of automatic fire on the Security Force column. The NSCN (IM) militants abandoned the camp and fled taking cover of the thick jungle and foliage. Later, the temporary camp established by militants of NSCN (IM) was destroyed by the Assam Rifles column,” the Assam Rifles official said.

“This act of NSCN (IM) is a gross violation of the CFGRs signed between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM),” the Assam Rifles official said.
