Guwahati/IBNS: The Kiphire Battalion of Assam Rifles under Spear Corps assisted the Public Works Department, Pungro from Aug 18 to 25 in clearing a major landslide at Pungro- Longkhimong Village, Kiphire district, Nagaland.

A major chunk of the landslide fell on the Pungro-Mimi axis  near Longkhimong village on 17 Aug thereby blocking all movement towards the border villages.

Village Council of Longkhimong approached Assam Rifles for providing assistance in opening the road as it is their lifeline and its closure would affect the villagers significantly.

Assam Rifles immediately responded and immediately commenced the work with the Public Works Department in spite of incessant rains.

With combined efforts of the villagers, Public Works Department Pungro and Assam Rifles, the road was cleared in 7 days. The efforts were appreciated by the locals.
