Assam Rifles apprehends SOREPA cadre in Manipur's Sugnu

Kakching (Manipur)/IBNS: Phundrei Battalion of Assam Rifles apprehended a cadre who was associated with KYKL from 2006 to 2014 and later with SOREPA in Dec 2022 at Sugnu in Kakching District.

Based on specific intelligence input received regarding the presence of a suspected cadre in Sugnu, Kakching District, a joint operation by the Phundrei Battalion and Commando Kakching was launched.

The forces apprehended the cadre named Moirangthem Shyam Meitei alias Milan from Wapokpi near the petrol pump, Sugnu in Kakching District, Manipur on Monday. 

The apprehended insurgent was involved rampantly in extortion.

He was handed over to Sugnu Police Station for further legal proceedings.
