Assam police rescue girl sold in Arunachal Pradesh six years back

Guwahati, Jul 2 (IBNS): Police recovered an Assamese girl hailing from a house located at Taksing in Arunachal Pradesh along the Indo-China border.

According to the reports, the girl hailing from Bedeti area in Assam’s Biswanath district was sold by her maternal uncle named Babul Lohar six years back and since then she was working as a force labourer in Arunachal Pradesh.

Biswanath district Superintendent of Police (SP) Rakesh Roushan said that, police was informed about it through a social media post 3-4 months back and immediately shared the information with the Arunachal Pradesh police.

The Arunachal police then started investigation and found the girl from a house at Taksing village along the Indo-China border and rescued her on June 29 last.

Later, a team of Biswanath district police rushed to Arunachal Pradesh and took her into their custody on Tuesday.

Biswanath district police have registered a case and also arrested Babul Lohar, maternal uncle of the rescued girl.

“We received an information through social media that, a girl hailing from Bedeti area is working as a force labourer at Taksing area in Arunachal Pradesh along the Indo-China border. Immediately we shared information with the Arunachal Police and we had registered a case and arrested a person. On June 29 last the Arunachal Police had rescued the girl and informed us. A police team had rushed to Arunachal Pradesh and took her into our custody and the team had reached today at Biswanath. We will hand over her to family after completing formalities,” Rakesh Roushan said.
