Assam police likely to grill more former Congress ministers in connection with multi crore rupees scam
The Vigilance and Anti Corruption (V&AC) branch had already summoned two former Congress ministers in connection with the Rs 2250 crore scam under the Social Welfare department which was unearthed following Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s directive.
A top official of V&AC branch said that, the investigating team had already summoned to former minister Gautam Roy and Ajanta Neog.
“Former minster Gautam Roy has been asked to appear before the V&AC office on Jan 30 next. We have also summoned to Ajanta Neog and the V&AC sleuths likely to grill her on February 5 next,” the official said.
Earlier, the V&AC had grilled former minister Akon Bora and collected vital information during the interrogation.
The V&AC team also summoned eight former directors of the department to appear before the investigating team.
The vigilance team had grilled at least 21 officials including three IAS officials into the scam.
Last year, Assam CM had directed to probe the multi crore scam during the previous Congress regime.
During the investigation it is revealed that an amount of Rs 150 crore was siphoned off every year from the social welfare department of the state for the past 15 years.
The investigation also detected nine lakh fake entries of ‘ghost children’ in the ICDS list.
The top official of V&AC said that 390 fake Anganwadi centres have been identified, which were fraudulently entered for siphoning off the money.
The V&AC sleuths had arrested an employee of Social Welfare department last year.
The investigating team had also seized several dozens file in connection with the multi crore scam.
On the other hand, the CID of Assam police likely to grill former Congress minister Nilamoni Sen Deka in connection with the another multi crore rupees scam under the Agriculture scam.
CID IGP Rounak Ali Hazarika said that, not only former minister CID sleuths to grill few officials of the department next weeks.
