Assam police arrests three poachers with rhino horn

Guwahati, Aug 27 (IBNS): Police on Monday arrested three rhino poachers and recovered a rhino horn in central Assam’s Nagaon district.

According to the reports, police arrested the rhino poachers at Rongagara area under Samaguri police station while they were trying to sell the recovered rhino horn.

The arrested poachers were identified as Fazar Ali, Abdul Kadir and Azizul Haque.

During the police interrogation the poacher trio revealed that, they were involved in rhino poaching incident and trying to sell the horn to other person.

Superintendent of Police (SP) of Nagaon district, Shankar Barata Raimedhi said that, based on intelligence input, a police team launched operation at Rongagara area and arrested the poachers.

“We caught them when they were trying to sell a rhino horn. We had launched the operation based on intelligence input,” the Assam cop said.
