Assam in turmoil after Silapathar incident
The protestors demnded stern action against the trouble makers.
On Monday, the Army staged a flag march at Silapathar in northern Assam district following the incident.
Police had registered a case (67/17) into the incident and arrested 14 people, who were allegedly involved in the attack.
The violence erupted in Silapathar town after some activists of NIBBUSS pelted stone at police personnel and attacked some people.
The attackers also vandalised an AASU office.
To control the situation, police fired teargas shells.
Several persons, including police personnel, were injured in the clash.
The organization threatened to intensity protests and declined to accept the Assam Accord.
The incident was in Assam assembly after opposition AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam alleged that the state Government has totally failed serve the interest of the indigenous people of the state.
Assam Education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the state government has taken the matter very seriously and it has already ordered a probe.
"The probe will find out who were involved in the attack. We appeal to all sections of people of the state to maintain peace," Sarma said.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has ordered Assam police to take stern action against the miscreants.
