Assam : Huge cache of arms and ammunition recovered from vehicle

Guwahati, Nove 9 (IBNS)  : The Assam police have  recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from a vehicle in central Assam's Nagaon district, officials said on Thursday.

The recovered arms are believed to be meant  for killing one-horned rhinoceros in Kaziranga National Park.

According to the reports, based on intelligence input, the Nagaon police on Wednesday  tracked a vehicle coming from Guwahati at Haiborgaon area in Nagaon town.

"When police tracked the Hyundai Getz car, its four occupants  managed to flee,"  a top police official said.

Police then recovered one AK-47 with 130 rounds ammunition,  one 303 rifle with 50 live bullets, sharp weapons, brown sugar and many more materials along with combat boots and food from the vehicle.

"These arms, ammunition and other materials are believed to be used for killing rhinos in Kaziranga," the police official said.

The  police have started an investigation.  for further information.
