Guwahati, Nov 28 (IBNS): Following the Centre's decision for demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal the people to use mobile banking and swipe machine applications to make a cashless society, the Assam government has decided to indulge in cashless transactions in the all state government departments.

Assam Finance minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said that, to make entire transactions of the state government cashless, all preparation of digital action plan is underway.

“The digital road map would be ready in the next 10 days. We hope it would be effective from next month,” Sarma said.

“It is not so difficult to make a cashless society, but it will take some times. The Assam government is committed to reduce the cash handling in the all state government departments,” the Assam minister said.
