Assam: Four die as boat capsizes in Brahmaputra

Guwahati: At least four people died after a boat capsized in river Brahmaputra in Assam’s Jorhat district on Wednesday.

The incident took place at Baghmara area where four persons were missing after a boat capsized in river Brahmaputra on Tuesday evening.

According to the reports, about 10-12 picnickers were boarded on a country made boat that capsized in river Brahmaputra.

The boatman and other persons had saved themselves, but four among them were missing.

Following the incident, local police, administration and SDRF teams rushed to the spot and engaged in search operations.

On Wednesday, the rescue teams had recovered the bodies of all four missing persons.

The deceased persons were identified as Razia Tikala, Sahil Chauhan, Sophia Chauhan and Pawan Rai.
