Assam doctors also take part in IMA’s nationwide strike

Guwahati, Jun 17 (IBNS): The Assam doctors have also taken part in the nationwide strike called by the Indian Medical Association (IMA).

The junior doctors of Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) and students of Guwahati Medical College (GMC) on Monday had staged protest and wearing black badges in Guwahati protesting the attack on a doctor in Kolkata.

The doctors staged protest to express solidarity with their protesting counterparts in Kolkata.

Non-essential medical services in the GMCH have been shut down during the strike.

The functioning of the OPDs at Guwahati Medical College Hospital was partially hit due to the protest.

The doctors demanded justice for the attack on their counterparts in Kolkata.

“Today, the junior doctor association of Guwahati Medical College Hospital and students union of Guwahati Medical College took part in the strike called by the Indian Medical Association (IMA). All non-essential services to be shut down from 8 am to 2 pm. This protest is a part in support to the doctors strike in West Bengal. All emergency services are continued and we have taken special arrangement for it,” a protester doctor said.
