Guwahati, May 6 (IBNS): Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Monday staged a protest in Guwahati against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his remarks on his predecessor late Rajiv Gandhi.

While addressing an election campaign rally in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, Modi said the life of Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s father Rajiv Gandhi ended as ‘Bhrashtachari No 1’.

Assam Pradesh Congress has strongly condemned Modi’s remarks on Rajiv Gandhi and staged a protest against the Prime Minister and BJP.

The Congress workers shouted slogans against Modi and the BJP.

Congress MLA and opposition leader Debabrata Saikia said the BJP has gradually lost their grips in entire the country so they are trying to create issues by dragging such non-issues.

“We condemn Modi's allegations against Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi. It is totally baseless. The BJP is now trying to create issues by dragging non-issues. Modi is now so desperate that he is making issues. He is not only the BJP’s star campaigner he is also the Prime Minister of India. He also destroyed dignity of Prime Minister’s post by saying such thing,” Saikia said.
