Guwahati, May 18 (IBNS): The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) leaders and party workers on Friday staged a protest in Guwahati condemning Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala's decision to invite B S Yeddyurappa while neglecting JD(S)-Congress claim to form government, despite having numbers.

Accusing the Karnataka Governor’s decision by inviting BS Yeddyurappa to take the oath of office despite the party falling short of the required mandate, the Congress leaders and workers said that it is a dangerous precedent and strikes at the very heart of India’s democracy.

The party leaders and workers staging protest at Dighalipukhuri area in the city by observing ‘Save Democracy Day’ said that the Indian constitution is under severe attack.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president and Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora said that the Karnataka election has proved that there is no democracy.

“Parliamentary democracy and constitutional democracy have been completely destroyed,” Ripun Bora said.

The Congress party leaders and workers also staged protest various areas of the state.
