Guwahati/IBNS: Taking a serious note on drink and drive cases and the consequent casualties and to reverse this trend, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday evening held a video conference with Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police, DTOs, Superintendents of Excise of all districts from his office in Janata Bhawan, Guwahati and asked them to put spanner on drink and drive phenomenon.

During interaction with the functionaries, Chief Minister Dr Sarma categorically asked the DCs and SPs to put adequate restrictions on the roads to avert the ‘drink and drive’ phenomenon experienced especially on festive seasons like new year eve and on new year days.

He also asked the DCs to undertake visits to district Civil Hospitals and Medical College Hospitals especially on the night of 31st December and ensure availability of doctors and immediate medical intervention to the victims of road accidents. Moreover, the Joint Directors of Health Services are advised to make ambulances ready to meet any exigency.
