Guwahati, Oct 15 (IBNS) : Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal declared government holiday on Oct 17 on the occasion of Kati Bihu.

Taking into consideration of the ethos and spirit of Kati Bihu for the Assamese community, the Assam CM declared it as a government holiday so that everyone can unequivocally take part into the observation of Kati Bihu rituals.

All government offices, semi-government offices and educational institutions will remain closed during the holiday.

Noteworthy to mention that earlier Kati Bihu was listed as a half holiday in Govt. holiday List.
