Assam APSC scam: Additional Controller of Exams arrested

Guwahati, Nov 12 (IBNS): Assam police apprehended Pabitra Kaibarta, additional controller of examination of Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), on Saturday, in relation to the alleged job racket, according to media reports.

Assam police found vital clues in the job scam in Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) after they arrested chairman Rakesh Paul who on Nov 4.

APSC member Samedur Rahman, who was earlier declared an 'absconder' was arrested on Nov 9 from Rangia in Assam, media reported.

A top police official said that, several politicians including former minister, MLA, government officials, police officials, actress name are come to light in the job scam in APSC.

“During the interrogation Rakesh Paul disclosed several names in connection with the job scam and now we have collected evidence against the people,” the top police official said.

Meanwhile, police raided the APSC office and sealed several strong rooms.

“We have sealed three strong rooms where the documents of the examinations are stored which were held during Rakesh Paul tenure,” top police official Raunak Ali Hazarika said.

Police also raided two houses of Rakesh Paul and a printing press of Paul’s brother in Guwahati and seized several answer scripts, media reported.
