Assam: 4-year-old girl child raped by an auto rickshaw driver
Guwahati, May 4 (BNS): Crimes against children and women in Assam have increased at an alarming rate as two more rape incidents have come to light in the state.
A 4-year-old girl child was allegedly raped by an auto rickshaw driver in Upper Assam’s Tinsukia district on Friday.
The incident took place at Dirak tea estate under Margherita police station.
According to the reports, the auto rickshaw driver, identified as Junun Purti, allegedly raped a 4-year-old girl child when she was returning from school.
He allegedly took the minor girl to a jungle area.
The victim's mother said that, the accused person regularly dropped her child at house after school by his auto rickshaw.
“When my daughter reached home, she told what happened to her,” the mother said.
Later, local people caught the driver and handed over to police.
The child's family lodged a complaint at Margherita police station.
On the other hand, another rape incident has been reported in Central Assam’s Hojai district, where a 16-year-old minor girl was allegedly raped while she was heading back home from a relative’s house.
The incident took place at Lanka area in the Central Assam district.
The victim girl said that, the accused person named Asanur Islam covered her mouth tightly and forcefully took her to an isolated place where he allegedly raped her.
Later local people rescued the minor girl.
The family members of the victim lodged a complaint into the matter at Lanka police station.
Meanwhile, police started investigation in both rape incidents.
Over 3000 rape cases have been registered in the state in past two years.
