Aryan Khan drug case: Sameer Wankhede writes to Mumbai top cop seeking protection from legal action
Mumbai/IBNS: NCB's Mumbai zonal director, Sameer Wankhede, has written a letter to the Mumbai Police commissioner seeking protection from precipitate legal action against him, framing him falsely, according to media reports.
The letter comes a day after a witness of the agency in the Aryan Khan case has filed an affidavit alleging collusion and payoffs against Wankhede and NCB, including getting his signature on blank papers.
According to Hindustan Times reports, Wankhede wrote in his letter that the threat of jail and dismissal have been issued against him on public media by highly respectable public functionaries, apparently referring to Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik public address where he openly threatened Wankhede and said he will be put behind the bars.
"Hence, you are requested to kindly ensure that no such precipitate legal action is carried out to frame the undersigned falsely with ulterior motives," Wankhede wrote.
The witness Prabhakar Rohoji Sail, who said he was the driver and bodyguard of private investigator KP Gosavi, filed an affidavit alleging that "NCB official demanded Rs 25 crore from Shah Rukh Khan to release his son Aryan Khan".
Sail claimed he heard KP Gosavi telling a person named Sam D'Souza over the phone about a demand of Rs 25 crore and to settle at Rs18 crore as they "have to give Rs 8 crore to Sameer Wankhede", media reports said.
Samir Wankhede has refuted these allegaations. NCB has said the witness needs to submit his plea to the court instead of social media as the matter is subjudice, according to Hindustan Times.
"...there are certain vigilance-related allegations against certain persons in the affidavit which are based on overhearing," the NCB said referring to the purported Rs 25 crore conversation, the report added.
