New Delhi, Dec 16 (IBNS): Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday led a delegation of senior party leaders as they met President Pranab Mukherjee over the political situation in Arunachal Pradesh following certain 'decisions' taken by Governor Jyoti Prasad.

"Met the President to express our anguish and concern at manner in which INC govt in Arunachal is sought to be destabilized," Sonia Gandhi told reporters after meeting the President.

She said her party has sought the President's protection to ensure sanctity of the Constitution.

"We have sought the President's protection to ensure sanctity of Constitution," Gandhi said.

According to reports, Arunachal Pradesh Governor has recently summoned the  Assembly session without consulting the state government or the Chief Minister.

He even set the agenda and even decided that the Speaker will not preside over the proceedings of the Assembly, reports said.
