Arunachal : Hardcore NSCN (K) militant killed in fierce gun fight

Guwahati, Dec 6 (IBNS): A hardcore militant belonging to banned outfit NSCN (K) was killed in a gun fight with Assam Rifles troops in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district on Thursday.

Based on intelligence input about presence of a militant group at Longkai village in Tirap district, the troops of Assam Rifles had launched an operation at the remote area.

When the troops reached the area, the militant group started fire upon the security personnel and heavy rounds of bullet were exchanged from both sides.

Kohima based Defence PRO Colonel Chiranjeet Konwar said one militant died on spot and huge cache of arms and ammunition recovered from the area.

Security personnel had recovered two AK-56 rifles, one Lathod launcher and large quantity of ammunition from the area.

Other militants of the group had managed to flee from the area.

Assam Rifles troops have launched an operation in the nearby areas to nab the fled militants.

The slain militant is yet to be identified.
