Arnab vs Arnab as filmmaker Aparna Sen tweets

| @indiablooms | Jul 27, 2019, at 04:57 pm

Kolkata, Jul 27 (UNI) The Twitter world was agog today with funny and scathing repartees after actor-director Aparna Sen tweeted an imaginary dialogue with a television anchor.

The award-winning director's tweet ran thus... An imaginary conversation with a journalist:

Journo: Where were u when the jizia tax was imposed on Hindus?
Me: But that was Aurangzeb's time!
Journo: Why were u silent then? Answer me! The nation wants to know!
A twitter handle with the name Gabbar shared Sen's tweet and wrote, 'Arnab questions: Can you not hear me?
Arnab answers: You can hear me.'
Another person wrote, 'There isn’t an institution that will have him, we checked. Alas! He will prevail.'

Incidentally, on July 23 forty-nine renowned personalities, among them Aparna Sen, Soumitra Chatterjee and Shyam Benegal, wrote to the Prime Minister on 'Jai Shri Ram' becoming a war cry for killing innocents in the name of religion.

Sen held a press conference for the same which was when Republic TV's Arnab Goswami decided to 'join' in, remotely from his media room.

For reasons unknown, Aparna Sen could not hear any of Arnab's questions and continued with her press conference, unfazed by the constant yelling.

This led to Twitter mocking Arnab for talking to himself.

The filmmaker did not miss the opportunity to have the last word in this 'exchange'.

Excellent reply to Arnab Goswami. He shouts so much without any reason and doesn't hear anything from other people, another person wrote, while a woman compared the TV anchor to "gutter"...' But Arnab was absolutely gutter grade!'

Yesterday, 62 celebrities, including filmstar Kangana Ranaut, lyricist Prasoon Joshi, dancer and Rajya Sabha member Sonal Mansingh and director Madhur Bhandarkar wrote an open letter against "selective outrage and false narratives against the Narendra Modi dispensation. They described the group of 49 as "self-styled guardians and conscience keepers of the nation" attempting to foist a "false narrative".

The former group of dignitaries soon clarified that its letter was based on facts and could not be construed as a conspiracy against the nation. This group also said they were not "engaging in any debate with anyone" and were not accountable to anyone "except the Prime Minister himself".
