Army’s ex-servicemen participate in rally held in Nagaland

Guwahati, May 16 (IBNS): An ex-servicemen rally was organised for veterans from Kohima, Phek, Kiphire, Wokha, Zunheboto districts and adjoining areas of Zakhama in Nagaland by 44 Mountain Brigade in coordination with Rajya Sainik Board of Nagaland on May 15-16 at Zakhama Military Station.

The event was attended by a large gathering of ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and their dependents.

The aim of the event was to reach out to the ex-servicemen and Veer Naris for addressing their grievances, update them on entitlement, benefits and readdressal of pension anomalies.

Kohima based Defence PRO Colonel Chiranjeet Konwer said that, Deputy General Officer Commanding, Red Shield Division assured the veterans attending the rally of all possible support from the Army in mitigating their grievances.

Deputy Director from Rajya Sainik Board, Nagaland welcomed the veterans, Veer Naris and their dependents, and highlighted the efforts of the state government to ameliorate the conditions of ex-servicemen.

Thereafter in a central interaction, the grievances of all attending veterans/Veer Naris were addressed in presence of Army, Pension Cell and Civil Government officials.

During the rally facilities like updation of Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), Canteen Smart card, medical and dental checkup, information dissemination on skill development programme of State Government and recruitment of wards in Indian Army/Territorial Army was extended.

The ‘Suvigya Cell’ of the Zakhama Military Station attended to several pension related anomalies of the veterans.

The rally was a step by the Army to mitigate the hardship of veterans who are residing in the remotest corners of the Nagaland and who have served the nation with ‘Guts and Glory’ in true traditions of this great organization.
