Army chief should not interfere in political matters: Owaisi on Bipin Rawat's AIUDF comment

| @indiablooms | Feb 22, 2018, at 05:52 pm

Hyderabad, Feb 22 (IBNS): AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has strongly disapproved of Army Chief Bipin Rawat's reference to the growth of AIUDF in Assam, terming it as political.

Owaisi took to Twitter to react to Rawat's recent statement where he said the Muslim oriented political party All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), led by Badruddin Ajmal, is growing at a faster pace than ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did over the years.

"There is a party called AIUDF. If you look at it, they have grown in a faster time-frame than the BJP grew over the years" Rawat was quoted by NDTV.

Criticising Rawat's statement, Owaisi tweeted: "What, the Army Chief should not interfere in political matters it is not his work to comment on the rise of a political party ,Democracy & Constitution allows it and Army will always work under an Elected Civilian leadership."

Rawat has also said the influx of Muslims in northeast India is Pakistan's "proxy game" aided by China to keep the region disturbed.

He has also said it is impossible to control the population of Assam with growing Muslim numbers in the state.
