Hyderabad, Jan 17 (IBNS) P Mithun Reddy, a lawmaker from Andhra Pradesh was arrested on Sunday from Chennai airport following an assault on an Air India staff last November, reports said.

NDTV reported that Reddy allegedly slapped Rajasekhar, the Air India staff, after the latter denied to issue pass to the lawmaker's family members.

The AI staff defended his action by saying that the lawmaker's family members were late.

Reddy has been sent to jail for 14 days.

Though his party downplayed the incident last year, terming it politically motivated, a CCTV footage revealed the actual scene and Reddy was found guilty of assaulting the AI manager.

The assault also caused serious injuries, according to report.

Medical reports have stated 'grievous' injuries.

Reddy, a YSR Congress MP, represents Rajampet constituency in Kadapa district.
