New Delhi: The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Tuesday removed over a dozen temporary structures in New Friends Colony.

“Over a dozen encroachments have been removed from the roadside. The first phase of the anti-encroachment drive will run till May 13. The second phase will be started very soon,” Rajpal Singh, Chairman of SDMC, Central Zone, told UNI.

SDMC staff, Delhi Police and paramilitary personnel reached NFC area and removed several temporary structures from the roadside and pavements to provide a clear passage for commuters.

The SDMC started the action against encroachers last week from near the Karni Singh Shooting Range in Tughlakabad.

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation also carried out an anti-encroachment drive in Mangolpuri area.

During the drive, the corporation removed around 50 encroachments from the roads.
