Amit Shah to flag off public faith rally in poll-bound Tripura on Jan 5

BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee said Shah will first address a gathering at Dharmanagar, the northern border of Tripura in the morning and flag off the chariot to showcase the public faith in the BJP-led government and in the afternoon, Shah is scheduled to run a similar chariot from Sabroom, the southern border of the state.

"The Public Faith Chariot will cover as many as 56 assembly constituencies of 60 and is targeted to reach at least 10 lakh populations through Padayatras, street corners, small rallies, and gatherings on the movement of chariots.

"A large number of senior BJP leaders from across the country have been invited to attend the Chariot rally and address the public on the success of the government," Bhattacharjee stated.

The in-charge of the public faith rally and information minister of Tripura Sushanta Chowdhury said the Chariot couldn’t cover four constituencies – Kanchanpur, Gandacherra, Ampi, and Boxanagar because of its geographical locations, but a large number of people from the respective segments will join the main rally.

The chariots from both sides will be moving towards the centre and conclude on January 12 after covering 1000 kilometres at Agartala, which will be addressed by BJP national president J P Nadda. In between, the party leaders would organize at least 200 meetings, 100 rallies, and 50 roadshows campaigning for all good works and success of the BJP-led government in Tripura, Chowdhury said.

Through rallies, the party will appeal to the people to vote for BJP in the ensuing polls for the second straight term. The party’s youth wing – Yuba Morcha has been assigned to welcome the chariot at every constituency and organize public meetings, roadshows, and rallies where every citizen irrespective of political colour would be invited to join the march, he added.

Meanwhile, CPM State Secretary Jitendra Choudhury on Saturday urged the people to reject such campaigns, because BJP has adopted the means to befool the voters for the next five years and said, "Instead of joining the chariot rallies people must organize to question BJP leaders about their poll promises made before the 2018 assembly elections.

"None of the promises are fulfilled yet and the people were cheated by the BJP."

Adding to Choudhury, former BJP minister and present MLA from Congress party Sudip Roybarman criticized the BJP-led government for wasting public funds for a such communal and instigative program and advised the Chief Minister to invest the time, money, and energy for the welfare of the state instead of such events and added, "BJP may try with all their strategies in the elections but in Tripura BJP’s life is only numbered.

"They must realize that people here are not like Uttar Pradesh or Maharashtra."
