Amid unemployment, inflation issues, PM Modi's leadership likely to help his third consecutive term at govt: Survey

New Delhi/IBNS: Even as unemployment and inflation will be the main concerns of Indian voters, still Prime Minister Narendra Modi's strong leadership and India's rising global stature would likely help his re-election bid, a survey by Lokniti-CSDS has shown.

The findings show that the benefits of India's world-beating growth are starkly different for its 1.4 billion people as compared to the creation of jobs, despite PM Modi's domestic manufacturing push over the last 10 years, which is still a challenge.

Voting for a seven-phase general election in India will start on April 19.

As per majority poll prediction, PM Modi is all set for a straight third term.

Votes will be counted on June 4.

According to the Lokniti-CSDS survey, unemployment was the primary concern of 27% of the 10,000 voters across 19 of India's 28 states while the price rise issue came second at 23%, the Hindu newspaper said.

Nearly two-thirds, or 62% of those surveyed, said finding jobs had become more difficult in the last five years, which is PM Modi's second term as prime minister.

Meanwhile, 22% of the surveyed voters said "the most liked action" of PM Modi's government was the construction of a grand temple dedicated to Lord Ram in UP's Ayodhya.

India is the world's fastest-growing major economy and its fifth-largest globally. However, unemployment and inflation have also been on the rise.

At least 48% of respondents said the Ram Temple will consolidate a Hindu identity, but a huge majority (79%) said India belongs to citizens of all religions equally, not just Hindus.
