Allahabad HC slams CBI for convicting Rajesh, Nupur in Aarushi Talwar murder case

| @indiablooms | Oct 13, 2017, at 06:54 pm
Allahabad, Oct 13 (IBNS): The Allahabad High Court has slammed a special court of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for its 2013 verdict, that had convicted Rajesh and Nupur Talwar on charges of murdering their 14-year old daughter Aarushi and servant Hemraj nine years ago, media reports said.

The Allahabad High Court judge, who had acquitted Aarushi's parents of the double murder charges on Thursday, said there were no concrete evidences against Rajesh and Nupur Talwar.

The couple who have in jail since 2013, serving a life imprisonment, are expected to walk free on Friday, according to media reports.

Citing that the CBI had failed to prove 'guilt beyond reasonable doubt' in the Aarushi Talwar murder case, the Allahabad High Court on Thursday acquitted parents Nupur and Rajesh Talwar  of murder charges.

After the conviction by a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in 2013, parents of Aarushi, Rajesh Talwar and Nupur Talwar, had appealed to Allahabad High Court.

Aarushi was found murdered at her residence on May 16, 2008, which led to the suspicion that domestic help Hemraj had killed her.

However, a day after Aarushi;s murder, Hemraj was found dead in the terrace.

In 2009, the CBI had handed over the murder case to a new team and suggested a closure of it.

The CBI had suspected Aarushi's father Rajesh Talwar to commit the double murders based on circumstantial evidence, though the CBI did not convict him due to lack of proper evidence.

However, the court rejected the CBI's claim of lack of evidence.

In 2013, the court convicted Aarushi's parents and sentenced the couple to life imprisonment.

The sensational murder case, which shook the nation, drawn diverse opinions from different sections of the society.
