Guwahati, July 6 (IBNS): Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) faces huge set back in Tripura ahead of the assembly poll in the north eastern Indian state after all its six legislators of Tripura on Thursday had made their first appearance in a meeting of BJP in Guwahati to support National Democratic Alliance (NDA)’s presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind.

The six TMC legislators led by Sudip Roy Barman would likely to join the saffron party ahead of assembly poll in Tripura next year.

Apart from the six TMC legislators, lone Congress MLA from Tripura Ratan Lal Nath too flew down in Guwahati to support Kovind.

The TMC legislators of Tripura said that, they had come here to extend their support to the NDA’s presidential candidate.

“We have come here to extend our support to Kovind for greater interest of the country. India will more develop under Kovind leadership. Our support is unconditional Today is our first formal move to join BJP,” Sudip Roy Barman said.

While asking about joining in BJP, Sudip said that, they have not yet formal invitation from the party.

Meanwhile, a crucial meeting was held at a hotel in Guwahati between the leaders of BJP and six TMC MLAs in presence of BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav, North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma.

On the other hand, BJP’s Tripura unit president Biplab Deb, who also accompanied with the six TMC legislators and lone Congress MLA said that, people of Tripura already decided to oust Left Front from Tripura in the next assembly poll.

“All six TMC legislators and the lone Congress MLA would likely to join BJP in next month after formal discussion,” Biplab Deb said.
