New Delhi, Jul 3 (IBNS) :  The Delhi High Court has extended interim protection from arrest to P Chidambaram till 1 August in the INX Media case, media reports said.

According to reports, CBI, which has been probing the case, has sought more time to file response on the former Union Finance Minister's anticipatory bail plea as they want to conduct custodial interrogation of accused.

Chidambaram had earlier obtained from the Delhi High Court interim protection till July 3 in connection with the INX Media corruption case.

Early last month, the Congress leader's son Karti, the prime accused in the case, too was granted interim relief by the Madras High Court following a midnight hearing.

The alleged corruption took place during the time P Chidambaram was the Finance Minister.
