Ahead of SC verdict, Sasikala spends night at MLA camp

New Delhi, Feb 13 (IBNS): Ahead of the Supreme Court's verdict related to a graft case involving Tamil Nadu CM-aspirant VK Sasikala on Tuesday, the AIADMK supremo will spend the night in the same hotel where she has kept 120 party MLAs, media reports said.

Sasikala is accused of acquiring an illicit fortune worth about Rs. 60 crores with former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in the early 1990s.

Earlier in the day, political turmoil between the two factions of AIADMK in Tamil Nadu entered into ninth day on Monday with both sides trying to prove their supremacy through supporter numbers, according to media reports.

Kancheepuram police, in their reply to Madras High Court, said that none of the legislators have complained that they are forcefully held, media reported.

The Supreme Court is likely to deliver its judgement on the disproportionate assets case against the late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa and current CM-aspirant Sasikala this week. If convicted, Sasikala will not be able to contest the elections for six years.

"Don't underestimate the powers of a common woman," said Sasikala addressing the AIADMK supporters.

Sasikala, who had a trouble-free appointment as the party head, was initially chosen by AIADMK eary in February to be the state's chief minister, taking over from acting Chief Minister O Panneerselvam.

But with Panneerselvam revolting against Sasikala and Governor C Vidyasagar Rao indicating that he would rather wait for the court verdict, the decision who will be the chief minister of Tamil Nadu remains a matter of conjecture, media reported.
