After TMC, now CPI-M files FIR against BJP leader Dilip Ghosh for 'shot like dog' remark

Kolkata/IBNS: After the Trinamool Congress (TMC), now the CPI-M has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s West Bengal president Dilip Ghosh for making a controversial statement where he said the saffron governments in three other states had shot to death people, who led to arson over Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, like a dog.

The latest FIR has been filed by CPI-M's Area Secretary of Ranaghat, advocate Debashis Chakraborty.

Taking a dig at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, CPI-M leader Md. Salim tweeted, " Since Mamata Banerjee is successful in proving her incompetence in dealing with BJP MP Dilip Ghosh (who wants to shoot activists of #CAA_NRCProtests like dogs), CPI(M)’s Area Secretary of Ranaghat, advocate Debashis Chakraborty has lodged an FIR against Ghosh."

The TMC had filed two FIRs against the BJP leader who is known to make controversial remarks.

At a public meeting in Nadia, Ghosh had said, "Mamata Banerjee has no guts to take action against those who had resorted to arson. Those who damaged the public properties must be shot to death like dogs like our governments did in Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Karnataka."

Ghosh faced backlash within his own party with BJP MP from West Bengal's Asansol, Babul Supriyo, calling the controversial statement "irresponsible".

Supriyo had tweeted, "BJP, as a party has nothing to do with what a DIlipGhosh may hv said•It is a figment of his imagination&BJP Govts in UP, Assam hv NEVER EVER resorted to shooting people for whatever reason whatsoever•Very irresponsible of DilipDa to hv said what he said."

Despite the rebuke from his party colleague, Ghosh stood firm on his statement and said he didn't say anything wrong and will again reiterate it in future.

Following the massive violent anti-CAA protests broke out in Uttar Pradesh killing at least 20 people, the BJP government there under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had attached the properties of all agitators to compensate the government losses.
