Guwahati, July 19 (IBNS) : After losing Swati, a Royal Bengal Tigress few days back, the Assam State Zoo and Botanical Garden lost their lone two horned African white rhino on Tuesday night.

Mohan, 50-year-old African white rhino died on Tuesday night, was brought to the state zoo of the north eastern Indian state for Rs 50,000 from US in 1974.

A top forest official said this rhino had actually exceeded the average lifespan of rhinos.

“Generally, a rhino lives for 45 years but Mohan was aged almost 50 years,” the forest official said.
