Afghanistan thanks India for COVID-19 vaccines

Kabul: Afghanistan Foreign Minister Mohammed Haneef Atmar has thanked India for sending  5,00,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine to the nation.

"My profound gratitude to my friend @DrSJaishankar , the government & people of India for assisting 500k dozes of “Made in India” vaccines to address #Covid spread in Afghanistan. A clear sign of generosity, commitment & strong partnership indeed. تشکر، مننه," the Afghanistan Minister tweeted.

Former President Hamid Karzai also appreciated India for the gesture and tweeted: " I thank the Government of India for providing 500K doses of the coronavirus vaccine to Afghanistan. Appreciating India's constant support to #Afghanistan. "

Helping the neighbouring nation in the hour of crisis, India recently gifted over half a million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Afghan officials.

During the procedure, India’s Chargé d'Affaires Raghuram S handed over the consignment of COVID-19 vaccines to Wahid Majrooh, Acting Minister of Public Health.
