Kolkata/Raigunj, Jul 14 (IBNS): A rally, held by Adivasis to protest against the alleged sexual harassment of four tribal women, turned violent in Raiganj in West Bengal's North Dinajpur district on Friday, reports said.

According to reports, a huge mob from the rally suddenly went on a rampage at Raiganj Bus Stand area in the afternoon.

Several vehicles, motorcycles, shops, restaurants, a hotel and few buildings were vandalized and few of those were set on fire by the crowd in presence of local police.

Later, a heavy police force along with Rapid Action Force (RAF) rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control.

On July 9, four tribal women, including two minors, were allegedly sexually harassed by five miscreants at Raiganj Bus Stand area and days after the incident, police arrested three persons involved in the case.

Protesting against the incident and demanding an immediate arrest of the remaining two accused, Adivasis held a march on Friday where over 10,000 tribal people took part.
