AAP's Amanatullah Khan booked for molestation charges

New Delhi, Sept 11 (IBNS): In yet another blow for the Aam Aadmi Party, the Police has registered a case against its MLA Amanatullah Khan, who on Saturday tendered his resignation from the post, on charges of allegedly molesting a relative.

This comes after the woman filed a complaint at the Jamia Nagar police station on Friday night.

Following her complaint, a probe was initiated.

A case has been registered against Khan under Sections 354 (criminal force to outrage the modesty of a woman), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 498A (dowry harassment) of IPC, said reports.

Khan on Saturday resigned from all government posts.

He wrote to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and announced about his resignation.

In his letter, available with the media, the lawmaker said he was 'tired of giving clarifications on various allegations'.

He was earlier this year made the Chairman of Delhi Waqf Board.

Khan was arrested earlier this year on charges of threatening a woman with rape and murder.

He was later released on bail on July 28.
