75,000 Indian industrialists turned NRIs after note ban move: Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata, Nov 8 (IBNS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday claimed that 75,000 Indian industrialists have left the country and turned NRIs due to note ban move made by the Central government last year.

Nov 8 marked the one year anniversary of note ban.

"More than 75,000 industrialists were compelled to leave India and settle abroad and become NRI because of harassment in the prevailing situation. Business potential worth lakhs and lakhs of crore in India was thus lost," Banerjee said in a post.

"Demonetisation was a Black Decision worth every sort of condemnation. 8th November #Nov8BlackDay this year will be observed as “Kaala Dibas” (Black Day) to protest against demonetisation and the unparalleled damage it caused to the country and its economy," she said.

Banerjee even turned her Twitter DP black to condemn the first anniversary of the note ban move.

"I have turned my Twitter DP black #DeMoDisaster. Let us raise our voices #Nov8BlackDay," she said.v
