5000 kg contraband drugs seized near Kolkata

Kolkata, Jun 9 (IBNS): The Narcotics Control Bureau on Thursday seized 5000 kg drugs from a truck at Dankuni Toll Plaza area in West Bengal's Hooghly district, 30 km away from Kolkata, officials said.
According to reports, Narcotics Control Bureau officials stopped a suspected truck at Dankuni Toll Plaza and recovered a huge amount of forbidden drugs from the vehicle.
 
Three persons, including the truck's driver, were booked.
 
"Our officials stopped a suspicious truck, which was coming from Kaliachak in Malda district and heading towards Kharagpur in West Midnapore district, for checking at Dankuni Toll Plaza on Wednesday morning and seized near about 5000 kg drugs from the vehicle. Market price of the drugs is close to 50 lakh rupees," one senior official of Narcotics Control Bureau told IBNS.
 
"Three suspects were held. We are interrogating them to know about their network and racket," he further said.
 
Investigation has been started into the matter.
