5 of family killed in West Bengal road mishap

Kolkata, Oct 1 (IBNS): Five members of a family were killed after their car collided with a truck at Basantapur area under Kharagpur Police Station limits in West Bengal's West Medinipur district on Sunday morning, reports said.

According to reports, at around 6 am a Tamluk to Kharagpur bound sedan suddenly lost its control near Debra Toll Plaza on Kolkata-Mumbai highway (NH 6) and crashed into a truck, which was parked beside the road, from behind.

Four passengers of the car, including a woman, died on the spot and another person passed away on the way to hospital.

After seizing both the truck and crashed car, police have started probe into the matter while five bodies have been sent to Medinipur Medical College and Hospital for post mortem.

Identities of the five deceased are yet to be established.

Meanwhile, two public buses collided head on near Belda area in the same district on Sunday morning, leaving at least 20 persons injured.
