5 killed in West Bengal bus mishap

Kolkata/Birbhum, Jan 22 (IBNS): At least five persons, including three women, were killed and several others were injured when a private bus lost its control and fell into a roadside canal at Ilambazar in West Bengal's Birbhum district in the wee hours of Sunday, reports said.

According to reports, the Tarapith to Durgapur bound tourist bus overturned on NH-60 and fell into a canal at around 3:30 am.

At least 40 passengers of the bus were injured in the crash and rushed to nearby hospitals, where five of them were declared brought dead.

According to police reports, the deceased have been identified as Kartik Mishra (45), Shanta Mishra (40), Puja Mishra (17), Rahul Mahara (15) and Monoroma Mahara (35), who all were the residents of Durgapur.
