Ahmedabad, Aug 23 (IBNS) : Gujarat assembly speaker Ramanlal Vohra on Tuesday suspended 44 Congress legislatures from the House for the day for creating ruckus over the thrashing of Dalits in Una over cow slaughter, reports said.

As soon as the House met, the Congress MLAs came on the floor, insisting that the Government immediately take action against the culprits, allegedly belonging to cow protection groups.

The party has 56 lawmakers in the House.

Four Dalit men were beaten-up by alleged cow-protection vigilantes for skinning a dead cow in July. A  video of the incident went viral triggered massive protests across the country.
