2017 Assembly Polls: Rahul Gandhi congratulates PM Modi, BJP

New Delhi, Mar 11 (IBNS): Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP for poll victory in UP and Uttarakhand.

"I congratulate Shri. Narendra Modi and the BJP on their victory in Uttar Pradesh & Uttarakhand," Rahul's tweet read.

BJP captured Uttar Pradesh in a thumping victory in, bagging more than 300 seats and followed it up with another comprehensive win in Uttarakhand.

However in Punjab, Congress attained the number one spot, surging ahead of the Aam Admi Party and the Akali Dal-BJP alliance.

Congress Vice President in a tweet said, "My heartiest congratulations to Capt Amarinder Singhji & all our party workers who worked tirelessly."

In a series of tweets, Rahul showed solidarity with Congress workers following its loss in UP.

"To all Congress workers across India: We stand resolute & committed to our values & our belief in an India united in strength & purpose," Rahul said on twitter.
